The work in this series is inspired by the lace-like remnants of a two hundred million-year-old fossilized sea creature I discovered in the archives at the Chicago Academy of Sciences. This baculite fossil, which is all that remains of an animal that went extinct around the same time as the dinosaurs, is not only beautiful but also reminds me of both the fragility and physicality of life.

I am fascinated with how our experience of nature is becoming increasingly less physical. In my work, I am interested in commenting on the ways in which any interaction with nature is now frequently mediated, while in my life, I am constantly in search of a kind of wilderness -- a more authentic, analog, and perhaps unpredictable experience.
